GeoGuessr Tournament Bracket Generator

Loading…

GeoGuessr is one of the few online games that fits a bracket exactly as it already is. A Duel is one player against one and ends with a winner, so a match in the draw is simply a Duel and nothing has to be adapted. Sixteen players in double elimination is thirty duels, and because each one is its own party link they can all run at the same time.

The mode changes the length far more than the bracket does. A moving Duel on a world map runs fifteen to twenty minutes and can go a good deal longer; No Move, No Pan, No Zoom cuts it to a handful of quick rounds. Fix the map and the movement rules before the draw, because changing them halfway through makes the results from round one mean something different to the ones from round three.

Which format to run

Double elimination for a competitive event, since a single Duel can turn on one unlucky drop. Round robin for six players or fewer, where a table across several Duels is a much better read on who is actually the strongest.

Opening round by seed

Seeds are paired so the strongest and weakest meet first, which keeps the top seeds in opposite halves of the draw. This is the order the board is drawn in, top to bottom.

How long it takes

Rounds run one after another, because a round cannot start until the one feeding it has finished. Matches inside a round can all run at once, so the number of lobbies you have decides the day more than the number of entrants does.

Questions

How do you run a GeoGuessr tournament?
As a bracket of Duels. Each match is a 1v1 Duel on an agreed map and movement setting, and the winner advances. Sixteen players in double elimination is thirty duels.
What settings should a GeoGuessr tournament use?
One map and one movement rule for the whole event. A moving Duel on a world map is the usual default; No Move keeps rounds short and the schedule predictable.
Can a GeoGuessr tournament have more than two players per game?
Not as a bracket. Battle Royale holds a whole lobby, which is a points event rather than a knockout. Bracket Duels instead, or use the round robin table and keep your own scores.
